Manny Delcarmen’s Bowlin’ For Strikes Benefit

After a long west coast roadtrip, the Boston Red Sox are back in town….and need to unwind. The Fenway neighborhood was alive again with excitement and a party atmosphere last night when Red Sox pitcher and Boston native Manny Delcarmen threw a bash to raise money for Boston Public Schools at his 3rd annual  BOWLIN’ FOR STRIKES fundraiser.

A summertime funky bowling party presented by New England Sporting Goods Giant NEW BALANCE, and sponsored by WAAF (radio), NESN (tv), and JILLIAN’S – Boston brought-out many of the Sox team and their families. In attendance at Jillian’s were:  Manny Delcarmen, John Lackey, Daniel Bard, Jeremy Hermida, Bill Hall, Mike Cameron, Clay Buchholz, Daniel Nava, Jonathan Papelbon, Josh Beckett, Jason Varitek, Mike Lowell, Tim Wakefield, Dustin Richardson, Scott Atchison, Adrian Beltre, and Angel Sanchez. (Quite an impressive showing!)

A fun and festive night was had by all who attended, and the money raised will be put to great use in the public schools of Boston. Thanks to all who donated their time, bid generously at the silent auction, bowlers, sponsors and spectators. (Special thanks to Sports Identity for their hard work putting this event together)

1st Annual RUN FOR HOME BASE (Fenway Park)

May 2010 238.jpg

On a simply beautiful Sunday morning at Fenway Park, the Red Sox Foundation presented the very first annual RUN FOR HOME BASE 9K race May 23, 2010.

(What started-out as foggy, then slightly humid, them partly cloudy, then sunshiney…..)
After an early 5am start for the volunteers this morning, Fenway later opened it’s gates to the public to view the race & cheer-on all the racers. The event had the calm and happy mood of a street fair….happy families everywhere. People were enjoying the morning with friends, kids playing in the game area, posing with Wally or getting faces painted, or balloon animals made for them….or simply relaxing with refreshing snacks while viewing the 2004 & 2007 World Series Trophies near the bleachers. After the race was finished, attendees could walk the entire track around the park and view the scoreboard, the Green Monster, and the dugouts at a leisurely Sunday pace.
