On Tuesday May 11th, Longball Cellars Newest Wines were officially launched at the HouseOf Blues’ FOUNDATION ROOM (Boston). Charity Hop presented it’s newest line of Boston Red Sox Wines to the media, and they are extraordinary.
Young Red Sox Outfielder (and Base-Stealer) Jacoby Ellsbury introduced his wine: ZinfandEllsbury and explained the decisions he made in choosing the specific charities to forward the sales proceeds to. The Navajo Relief Fund is one that is very dear to his heart, as well as Project Bread (a great area food charity). He was with his beautiful girlfriend and his brother at the event, and appeared to be quite healthy and anxious to get back on the field to play. (Some proceeds will also go to the new Ellsbury-Read Project also.)
Josh Beckett was unable to attend the Launch event on Tuesday because of a medical evaluation. He did have great representation at the event in his guru and # 1 man at the Josh Beckett Foundation – Mr. Jason Oberle, who spoke on his behalf, and about the Josh Beckett Foundation….where the proceeds of the Beckett wine will go. The Beckett Foundation has raised over $280,000 dollars, and will continue to grow to raise money for children’s cancer treatment. (He did mention that the annual Beckett Bowl will be July 29th and at Lucky Strike/House Of Blues)
It was a beautiful event, and a delicious product (I had to taste-test them several times) and it all goes to great causes, so please request them at your local wine shop. The Improper Bostonian Magazine also sponsored the event, as well as the House Of Blues Boston. Thanks to Brett Rudy and Mike Lembo of Charity Hop, Andrew Graff and John Corcoran of Charity Wines and it was also lovely to meet Artist Jonathan Banchick (Banchick Illustrations) whose artwork on all the sport wine labels is beautiful.

Winter just turned to Spring, and our senses are alive with all the color and activity that Spring brings to us. Time to put away the heavy down coats, scarves, knit hats, snow boots and gloves….and turn our attention to the fun things that mean Springtime.
Warm days of sunshine and breezes approach us, as do outdoor celebrations…like ballgames, barbecues, and other fun warm weather gatherings. Never show up empty-handed when paying a visit….bring the perfect gift, a bottle or two of the newly-created wines from Charity Wines (www.charitywines.com) in either a light fruity ZinfandEllsbury (Zinfandel) or a fuller robust CHARDON-K (Chardonnay).
The ZinfandEllsbury is named for our young amazing Boston Red Outfielder and Base-Stealer JACOBY ELLSBURY and proceeds from the sale of this fine California wine will go to these three chosen charities: the Navajo Relief Fund, Project Bread, and the Ellsbury Read Project.
The Ace’s CHARDON-K is named in honor of our Pitcher Extraordinaire JOSH BECKETT and proceeds from the sale of this fine California wine will go to the Josh Beckett Foundation.
These delicious, and very affordable wines will retail for $ 14.00 per bottle, and will be available in MAY 2010 at your local wine distributor or liquor store.
Share a glass with friends at any summer celebration, to cap-off a victory, or while enjoying a picnic with cheese and fruit. Always a great addition to your collection!
